Power plan gets go-ahead

2020 and 2021. AEP estimates customers will save $3 billion over the next 30 years on reduced electricity bills. The wind farms include a 999MW facility north of Weatherford; a 287MW facility being built southwest of Enid; and a 199MW facility being built south of Alva. Together the projects could provide over 5.7 TWh of wind power every year.

Ohio-based American Electric Power (AEP) is proceeding with its planned 1,485MW North Central wind project, despite Texas regulators rejecting the $2 billion project. The project is being developed in north-central Oklahoma to provideelectricity forOklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas: regulators from the three states gave their approval, as did the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
