Data center expansion

Digital Realty, a provider of data center, colocation and interconnection services, has plans to expand in Asia and Europe. The company is to build a data center in Seoul, South Korea, and its third facility in the Frankfurt area in Germany. Digital Realty has agreed the purchase of land from the Seoul metropolitan government. The site is within the Sangam Digital Media City in northwest Seoul, part of an urban planning zone focused on technology and media companies. The new facility will offer up to 12MWs of critical IT capacity.

In Germany, Digital Realty has bought a 34-acre plot in Hattersheim, three miles from Frankfurt Airport, for its next facility in the region. It will provide up to 84MW of IT capacity. Company CEO A William Stein said: “Looking ahead, wewill continue to invest in opportunities to meet the growing demand for data center solutions across the region.” Digital Realty operates data centers throughout North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia and Australia.
