Networking trials After its successful testing of quantum computing technology in Washington DC, Verizon plans to test the technology throughout the US. The quantum key distribution pilot project involved the encryption and delivery of video streams in real time between two locations. As part of the testing, quantum keys were created and exchanged over a fiber network where, Verizon says, hackers can be “instantly detected”. Verizon believes quantum computing technology could make computer systems and data transmission considerably more secure.
