Bringing solar jobs to southwest Virginia

By the end of 2023 a southwest Virginia partnership plans to have constructed 10MW of solar generation and created new full-time jobs in the solar sector. The Solar Workgroup of Southwest Virginia, comprising a number of organizations seeking to develop a renewable energy cluster in the coalfield counties of Virginia, recently announced a partnership with Virginia-based Secure Futures, a company that builds, owns, manages and funds

solar solutions for hospitals, schools and businesses.

The collaboration aims to provide commercial-scale solar installations in the region that are specifically designed to employ local workers. The initiative, called “Securing solar for southwest Virginia”, will provide affordable solar solutions for businesses, non-profits and local governments in the regions.
