Contracts for new Arizona plant

Boeing will be among the customers for Salt River Project’s forthcoming 100MW solar power plant in Eloy, Arizona. Boeing’s Mesa site, situated about 50 miles from the plant, will receive 25% of its electricity needs from the project for 15 years. “It makes sense to take advantage of renewable solar energy at a location that enjoys 295 days of sunshine a year,” said Beth Schryer, Boeing vice president of facilities and asset management.

The agreement builds on Boeing’s renewable energy and energy efficiency policy. Two Boeing sites – Renton, Washington, and Charleston, South Carolina – already use 100% renewable energy, and the company is ranked 17 th on the EPA’s Green Power Partnership Fortune 500 Partners list.

The 700-acre Eloy plant is expected to start operations in December 2021.
