Investment is high on the agenda for Liberty Steel USA. Part of London, UK-basedGFGAlliance, the company is investing $25m installing a new electric arc furnace at its Georgetown, South Carolina, wire rod mill. The company envisages that this will increase output at the mill, purchased from ArcelorMittal in 2017, to more than 400,000 tons per year, and the upgrade is expected to be complete within six to nine months. The company is working with Danieli to carry out the upgrade. Full story on page 9. And there is news on page 10 of TPC Wire and Cable Corp completing its purchase of Pittsburgh Wire and Cable Inc, a distributor of industrial and commercial wire, cable and accessories. The transaction is part of TPC’s continuing penetration of new markets, and will expand its wire and cable product range. Another acquisition completed is that of EIS Inc by Audax Private Equity. EIS is a distributor, fabricator and converter of electrical process materials, wire, cable and assemblies with 38 branches and four fabrication facilities in North America.
