Lighting up

The Brazilian fiber provider Padtec has lit five new 100Gbps channels between Buenos Aires and Santiago (Chile) on behalf of the Argentine operator Silica Networks. The optical network uses dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) products from Padtec, and adds over 500Gbps to the total capacity.

East coast communications

Adtran is collaborating with Talkie Communications to build a 100 percent fiber, 10G communications backbone network along the eastern coast of Maryland. The network is needed to connect underserved communities in the area and promote economic development in the region.

Last month, Adtran partnered with the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) to jointly develop a manufacturing program in Egypt to deliver Adtran fiber products to the region. As part of the agreement the team will first focus on Adtran’s fiber access portfolio, which includes its XGS-PON, GPON and other SD-Access solutions.
