LS Cable and System has completed its second submarine cable plant in Donghae, Gangwon province, South Korea, more than doubling its submarine cable production capacity. Construction began in March in 2019. The plant will continuously manufacture submarine power cables of about 30cm in diameter, at tens of kilometers at a time. This second plant has facilities for production, storage and transportation of ultra-high voltage cables on a large scale. Most of the facilities were developed in-house and include a 50m- tall manufacturing facility and a 5,000-ton turntable capable of holding 1,000 five- ton truck loads of cables at one time.

Riyadh Cables expects to access opportunities in the power distribution market, following its recent investment in new production facilities for LV and MV cables with solid aluminum conductors. The company has added aluminum continuous extruding machinery into its cable production lines, to cater for the supply of the power cables to Australian and western European utilities. The new cables are also suitable for renewable energy applications, to interconnect wind farms to the main substations.
