Post and wire

The US Postal Service (USPS) has released a set of stamps featuring ten wire sculptures by Ruth Asawa, who died in 2013. The stamps are a tribute to the late Japanese-American artist, whose technique borrowed from traditional Mexican basket weaving.

showcases Asawa’s wire sculptures, showing a 1954 Lifemagazine photograph of Asawa in the margin of the set. Asawa’s wire sculptures can be seen in the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

Photographed by Dan Bradica and Laurence Cuneo, the set of 20 stamps
