New robotics cable Helukabel has added a new Profinet cable to its industrial ethernet range – the Helukat Profinet type R Torsion. Helukabel type R robotic Profinet cable standards have traditionally divided into three classifications: types A, B and C. The new addition, type R, is a stranded conductor designated for robotic applications. As technology moves towards more automated equipment in industrial applications, customers are shifting from systems that use Profibus protocol to those using Profinet, due to the increased data transmission rates required to maintain operational efficiency in real-time. Dynamic requirements have also increased, creating more mechanical stress and electromagnetic interference (EMI). Helukat Profinet type R Torsion is rated category 5e, with a double-shielding design to provide excellent transmission characteristics in EMI-heavy environments. It has been tested to withstand over five million torsion cycles under loads of ±180°/m, and more than five million flexing cycles in a drag chain at acceleration rates of two Gs (20m/s 2 ) and a maximum speed of 11mph (300m/min). It can be used in temperatures between –40° and +176°F (–40° to +80°C).

The PUR jacket is flame retardant and halogen-free and the cable meets ISO/IEC 11801 and EN 50173 standards.

Get crimping The DN-FE-16T crimping tool is a new addition to the AutomationDirect range, featuring a rotatable die and trapezoidal crimp profile. The crimper is self-adjusting for use with insulated and non-insulated wire ferrules in sizes from 26 to 8 AWG, and has a rotatable crimp head to allow crimping from the side or from the front. AutomationDirect’s self-adjusting crimpers are lightweight, compact and comfortable for crimping a wide variety of insulated and non-insulated ferrules, crimping terminals and connectors. DN-FE series crimpers feature a controlled- cycle ratchet action (with emergency release) to ensure every crimp is completed according to specification, and have a low handle force for larger ferrule sizes. The compact, lightweight design provides easy access within confined spaces, and a non-slip grip pad allows the operator to apply pressure against a surface for extra crimp force.
