Copper expansion

SDI La Farga LLC is embarking on a $16 million expansion project to increase production capacity at its New Haven, Allen County facility. The company will add a second furnace to melt recycled copper. SDI La Farga’s president, Kurt Breischaft, said: “We are extremely excited to begin this next chapter in the history of SDI La Farga. We continually look for new and betterways to serveour customers, and this

expansion … will help us do exactly that. We look forward to offering more choices of high quality copper rod and wire to customers throughout the Midwest.” The plant reclaims and refines scrap copper, using it to produce copper rod and wire. SDI La Farga LLC is a joint venture between Fort Wayne-based Steel Dynamics Inc and the La Farga Group based in Barcelona, Spain.
