Wind delays

Vineyard Wind’s 800MW project, originally expected to be generating electricity by 2022, has been delayed by a new federal review. The joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewables awaiting clarity from the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM). In early February, the BOEM published a new “one federal decision permitting timeline” that anticipates an outcome by 18 th December 2020.

Officials for the project, 15 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, had said inJuly2019 that theentireprojectwould be at risk if the federal government did not issue the project’s final environmental impact statement by the end of August. However, the company has since affirmed its commitment to the project: “…Albeit with a delayed project schedule.”
