Digital drum tracking NKT’s TrackMyDrum is a combination of a digital platform, smartphone app and connected Internet of things sensors to collect the data needed for smart asset management. The cable drum tracking solution has been developed to save “thousands of euros” for utilities, energy providers and installation companies, as well as improve the utilization of cable drums and minimize the risk of cable theft. The tracking app allows smart asset tracking of exactly when drums and cables arrive on site, what project they are specified for, and how much cable is left on the drum. The rental period of the drum is highlighted and alerts are sent out to ensure a timely return. GPS tracking is available for a full overview of a drum’s location. A geo- fencing facility reduces theft and lost drums withGPS-basedalertswhenadrum ismoved outside oa pre-set area, and any damages to the asset can be directly reported. TrackMyDrum is developed by NKT’s digital hub, ThinkT Digital, in close collaboration with German companies in the energy and installation industry.

Every year companies suffer large costs incurred by delayed drum return, for drums left on or stolen from construction sites, and inventory management.

All these challenges are easy to manage using the new digital platform.

TrackMyDrum has been released on Google Play and the Apple App store, for download and use by anyone who handles drums.
