DXN Ltd, a specialist in pre-fabricated modular data centers, has completed a contract with Southern Cross Cable Ltd to supply cable landing stations in the Pacific. MatthewMadden, DXN’s CEO, said that the contract was for three deployments in the Pacific, located in Fiji, Kiribati and Tokelau. Southern Cross NEXT will provide data connectivity between Sydney, Auckland and Los Angeles and is scheduled for completion by January 2022. The route will also provide critical international cable connectivity to the Pacific Islands of Fiji, Tokelau and Kiribati. Laurie Miller, CEO Southern Cross Cables, said: “In looking for a solution for the Pacific Islands, we wanted the highest quality engineering to match our ambitions for the new cable. DXN Limited showed they can deliver all of that quickly, even in a challenging location like the Pacific.” Construction of the landing stations began in mid-November, with deployment scheduled for 2020. The facilities are designed to work in the most demanding climatic conditions, and include integrated standby power from batteries and a diesel generator.

A producer of non-ferrous metals bars, wire rod and strips, Ningbo Powerway Alloy Material Co Ltd, has contracted AMOVA GmbH to supply a logistics system for the Ningpo works complex in Yinzhou, China. AMOVA will design a complete logistics system for the facility that will ensure maximum efficiency of the material flow, from rawmaterial storage area down to the dispatch area, including the higher-level materials control and tracking systems. The containers, which are manually filled in the raw material storage area with scrap blends for the various copper alloys, will be transported to the melt shop using rail- bound vehicles. There, the containers will be stacked for storage until they are taken to the melting furnace by crane. Operation of the crane will be fully automatic, as will the emptying of the containers. Downstreamof themeltingandmilling shop, freely navigating vehicles will transport the strips between the downstream processing stages – rolling, annealing, cleaning, cutting and slitting – and finally to the buffer store from where they are taken to the packaging area. The packaged finished products will be intermediately stored in an automated high-bay store until dispatch. AMOVA GmbH is to supply a logistics system for the Ningpo works complex in Yinzhou, China.
