More power for the Chinese grid

Manufacturer to change hands

Image: Abengoa Abengoa has synchronized the turbine of the Luneng Haixi tower solar thermal plant, currently under construction in China and in which Abengoa has been a technology provider. Successful synchronization of the turbine implies the correct operation of all the mechanical and electrical infrastructure to generate electricity (at low power). Abengoa has provided technology and engineering development for the 50MW Luneng Haixi State, located in the Qinghai province, as well as providing technical support during the construction of the solar field. Work began in early 2018 and has been carried out in extreme weather conditions, at temperatures down to –30ºC. The project is part of the renewable energy program launched by the Chinese government, aiming to achieve a solar thermal installed base of at least 27GW by 2030. Abengoa is also responsible for technology and engineering for the Royal Tech Yumen 50MW parabolic trough solar thermal plant project, being built in Gansu province. This project is being developed for SRT (Shuangliang Royal Tech CSP Technology Co Ltd) and is part of a thermo-solar demonstration program launched by the Chinese government.

Prysmian Group has received a binding offer fromCarlisle Companies Incorporated for the acquisition of Draka Fileca SAS (Fileca). The transaction will be subject to consultation with Fileca’s French employee representative bodies and regulatory approvals. Fileca was acquired by Prysmian in 2011 as part of the Draka acquisition, and is a global supplier of highly engineered cables for the spaceandaerospacemarkets. Thebusiness is headquartered in Sainte Geneviève, France. Completion of the transaction is expected during the first quarter of 2020.
