Indiana state governor Eric Holcomb joined executives from Nippon Steel and Sumikin Cold Heading Wire Indiana Inc to cut the ribbon on the company’s new 150,000ft 2 facility in Shelbyville. The $50 million project is expected to create up to 70 jobs.

The new plant is NSSMC’s first in the US for its bar and wire rod unit, but marks its sixth investment in Indiana. Thecompany has facilities for other subsidiaries throughout the state, including Seymour, New Carlisle and South Bend.

The facility was first announced in June 2016, before Holcomb took office.
