Wire drawing roller Sjogren Industries has announced the launch of its latest customized solution for the wire and cable industry, the static dancer roll (SDR). The patent pending SDR is designed to replace the conventional dancer roller or tuner roller on wire drawing machines. With theconventional roller thecombination of high heat, draw lube contamination, and generalwear causeswiresurfacescratching and ball bearing seizure. Frequent required maintenance means extended periods of downtime on the factory floor. With SDR, Sjogren intends a customizable solution that extends machine life and increases productivity. Maintenance costs are reduced while wire quality is improved. Initial trial data indicates that SDR shows little to no wear after two and a half years of operation. If wear becomes apparent, a simple rod adjustment (taking less than a minute) will provide a new surface with no line downtime. SDR is one of several new products that Sjogren Industries plans to introduce to the market during 2017. Cablegets pushedaround Recently launched CableM8 is a new cable distribution cart from Lake Cable. Customized for the security market, the CableM8 is equipped to carry large gauge cable reels, but is said to move through any door and pivot easily in areas with limited space. Built for durability, CableM8 enables installers to pull up to 6,000 feet of cable

to its servo motor encoder cable range. Where traditional methods require three separate encoder cables, one for managing power with a second and third for signal and data, TPC’s Trex-Onics ® High- Flex encoder cable converges these roles into one cable designed to withstand the harsh use and constant flexing and pulling associated with servo motor applications. Power for the controller is combined with twisted pairs suitable for managing data and signal, resulting in a product that can simplify inventory management, installation and maintenance. Trex-Onics High-Flex encoder cable is compatible with multiple interfaces for encoders including EnDat, Hiperface ® and synchronous serial interface (SSI). Furthermore, whereas TPC typically develops cable in its signature yellow, the new encoder cable is presented in green RAL6018, the industry’s color code indicative of feedback. The cable is said to pair well with TPC’s M23 connectors to create a complete connectorized assembly that arrives ready to install. Trex-Onics High-Flex encoder cable is built to withstand harsh industrial environments. Pairs used for analog and digital signals are protected with braid and foil to promote maximum flex-life and signal integrity. A heavy-duty tinned copper braid serves as a shield against EM/RF noise and interference, and a specially compounded thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) jacket serves as a first line of defense against abrasion, flexing, oil, and other hazards associated with dynamic applications.
