Fasteners will be subject to new tariff

As part of the US response to China’s alleged theft of American intellectual property and forced transfer of American technology, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has released a list of Chinese imports worth approximately $200 billion that will be subject to additional tariffs. The additional tariffs were imposed at 10 percent from 24 th September 2018, and will increase to 25 percent on 1 st January 2019.

The list of 5,745 tariff lines includes iron and steel coach and wood screws, screw hooks and rings, self-tapping screws, machine screws, spring washers, rivets and cotter pins, as well as copper screws and washers.
