Glue-less splicing

AFL has introduced a new tool, the RT- 02, for ribbonizing and splicing 12-fiber ribbons. Said to be the first ribbonizing tool that uses a glue-less process, the RT- 02 eliminates glue cure time and possible contamination of the splicing equipment. Greg Pickeral, fusion splicer product manager for AFL, said: “Those who have ribbonized with traditional methods will really see and feel the difference,” adding that the new features “must be seen to be appreciated.”

The RT-02 ribbonizer is suitable for 200µm and 250µm loose fibers, for 200µm and 250µm MPO termination, and for mass fusion splicing loose fiber cables. Loading in order of the color code sequence is not necessary, and fibers can be inserted at will and loaded directly into the fiber holder after inserting all twelve fibers.
