New venture on hold

Brian Kim, CEO of Superior Essex, announced in late-March that the proposed joint venture between Essex Magnet Wire and Furukawa Electric Co has been postponed until October 2020. The change of date is a result of expert advice regarding health and safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. On completion of the joint venture, the Essex Furukawa brand is expected to bring market leadership positions in North

America, Europe and Asia; to enable strategic customer partnerships; and to expedite research and technological advancements, especially in electric vehicle (EV) and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) development.
