Fujikura also introduced the RS02 and RS03 ribbon fiber strippers, suitable for use with all Fujikura splicers. Featuring Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone app capabilities, a typical heating time of three seconds, and an auto-adjusting heat sensor to monitor temperature and heating time, the RS strippers are designed for fast, smooth and efficient stripping. The RS03 has new features such as a large capacity battery, capable of 600 stripping cycles, and a wireless link with smartphones for operational parameter adjustment. Developed to suit the stripping and splicing needs of Fujikura’s SpiderWeb ® ribbon technology, the RS02 and 03 can both strip up to twelve fibers.

“The FR-WTC-SWR product expands AFL ribbon cables into the campus and data center structured cabling spaces where demand is growing for high fiber-count and high density optical circuits that can be routed within building structures,” explained Stephen Martin, product manager for AFL’s cable division. SpiderWeb ribbon is an intermittently bonded fiber design that conforms to the flame-retardant wrapping tube cable packaging technology, making it suitable for ultra-high density applications. SpiderWeb ribbon reduces the size of the cablewhile the FR-WTCdesign optimizes the fiber packing density, making FR-WTC-SWR cables possibly the smallest ribbon cables with the lowest weight in the industry. The cable design includes a gel-free water- blocking system that facilitates fiber access and termination. The new ranges included the latest additions to the Fujikura fusion splicer family – the 70S+ core alignment single-fiber optical fusion splicer, and the 70R+ twelve-fiber ribbon optical fiber fusion splicer. Both now feature Bluetooth integration to allow the splicer to pair via the accompanying “Splice+” smartphone application.

“In order for fiber to the home installations to exist, cables need to be spliced or connected. Fujikura technology… can make a real difference to clients’ networks by providing an accessible and efficient solution without compromising performance,” said Neil Bessant, fusion splicer divisional manager at Fujikura Europe.
