Energy storing

The US-based geothermal company Ormat Technologies Inc has put its Rabbit Hill Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility into operation.

(ERCOT). It was designed and constructed by Ormat’s subsidiary Viridity Energy Solutions, which will own and operate the system. The energy storage project, which uses lithium-ion batteries, is Ormat’s first in Texas, and the fifth for its energy storage and management services unit.

The facility, with a capacity of around 10MW, is located in Georgetown, Texas.

BESS will provide ancillary services and energy optimization to the wholesale markets managed by the grid operator, Electric Reliability Council of Texas
