Celebrations are in order for Radix Wire and Cable, of Cleveland, Ohio, which celebrates its 75 th anniversary this year, with a number of notable ‘firsts’ during that time. The company’s Sil-a-Blend and DuraBlend cables were the first silicone products with fiberglass integrated into the insulating layer, and DuraLife was the first flexible silicone rubber insulated fire alarm cable to be certified under UL2196,meetingnew industry safety standards for household cooking equipment. Turn to page 11 for the full details. And growth is on the agenda for Liberty Steel, part of the global GFG Alliance, after it acquired Johnstown Wire Technologies (JWT), of Johnstown, Pennsylvania. JWT is said to be the largest producer of value-added carbon and alloy wire in North America, and the deal will give Liberty “valuable capacity to manufacture a range of high value carbon and alloy wire products for multiple end markets, including the infrastructure, automotive, utility and consumer sectors.” The full story can be found on page 13
