Long haul fiber in UK

Zayo Group Holdings is extending and upgrading a long haul fiber ring in the UK to enable a direct, low-latency path across the country. The 500km ring, which includes newbuild, will alsoprovideaccess to the UK’s latest subsea cable crossings in both the Irish and North Seas. As part of the project, Zayo will increase the overall fiber count on its existing UK network and add two new coast-to-coast routes to complete the ring. The project, expected to be completed in less than 12

months, will incorporate high-count, ultra- low loss fiber types, built over the shortest physical paths. The routes will also be available for wavelengths. Zayo’s network extends across major cities in eight European countries, and includes over one million fiber kilometers. The company recently announced additional metro expansions in London, Paris, Dublin and Amsterdam, but the UK project is the largest build Zayo has undertaken in Europe to date.
