Increased production set for the Philippines

Elsewedy Electric has confirmed that its subsidiary has signed three new EPC contracts, worth a total of around $54 million, with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). The subsidiary, Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution, will construct two 30km overhead transmission lines to connect to the Toshka 4 substation, and will construct both the Toshka 4 and West Port Said substations. The company specializes in high voltage transmission lines and has over 1,000km of 220kV and 500kV lines and substations within Egypt and Africa.

Yokowo Co Ltd will manufacture and assemble automotive wiring harnesses and components in the Philippines. Ground- breaking activity will begin in January 2022, and the new facility is expected to be in operation in April 2022. This will be the second confirmed Japanese investment in wiring harness production in the Philippines during the year, the first being Sumitomo Wiring Systems, which is developing the company’s biggest factory in the world in Pangasinan. As a new manufacturer in the Philippine wiring harness production sector, Yokowo recently registered a 100% wholly owned business in the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission under the name Yokowo Manufacturing of the Philippines. Headquartered in Tokyo, Yokowo Co describes itself as specialist in antennas, fine connectors, microwaves and advanced devices for the automotive, semiconductor testing systems, mobile device and advanced medical device sectors.
