Belden Inc has inaugurated its first “One Belden” manufacturing unit in Pune, India. The factory is equipped with the latest equipment and proprietary technology to serve Belden’s key industrial, enterprise and broadcast segments. With an investment of $35 million across two phases, Belden has established a strong footprint in India and south and south- east Asia to augment existing commercial operations and meet customers’ mission- critical signal transmission and management needs. The facility has been established with support from the Indian government’s Mega Project program. Key products from the new plant will include low voltage cables for high-end applications, connectivity and assemblies for data transmission, and ethernet switches, routers and firewalls for industrial and building automation. The first phase, which included a $20 million investment, was completed in September 2018. Work on the second phase will commence soon, with an additional $15 million investment. In 2019, once at full capacity, the project is expected to provide direct and indirect employment opportunities to over 300 people.
