and reliable, with high accuracy and repeatability. Especially for bigger wire rod sizes of 20mm diameter or above, the physical limits of what the operator is capable of are reached, even when using such a comfortable machine. Consequently, Strecker designed a handling device for large diameters on a welding machine with vertical orientation of the wire axis. The wire ends are pulled out of the coil one at a time and then positioned in the clamping device for welding. The entire process is then controlled manually by an operator manually, but without the use of physical force or bodily exertion. Automated handling is available to reduce the period of time the operator has to spend with the welding machine. Here, the gripping arms of the handling device are brought to the wire rod ends to be welded and these are clamped into the grippers. The operator presses a key to start the automatic process. The grippers pull the two wire ends into the clamping device for welding, the ends are clamped, welded, deburred, and the clamping device opens up again. The welded wire coil ring stays clamped in the upper gripping arm to avoid any uncontrolled tripping of the wire. Depending on individual requirements, in close cooperation with specialised sub- suppliers Strecker also provides solutions to the problem of automatic material feed to the buttwelder. The welders are equipped with all interfaces and sensor
systems required for communication with the placement machine or the manufacturing line.

In 1892, theGerman engineer Paul Troester started building machines which could process unvulcanised rubber and gutta- percha. After 125 years, the company is now known as a reliable extrusion partner and supplier of machines and lines for the cable manufacturing industry. At Interwire, Troester will present a variety of information and new developments in the field of high and extra-high voltage CCV lines and VCV lines for XLPE and rubber cables, one-step silane lines for LV and MV cable applications, as well as high-speed insulation and sheathing lines, including building wire, automotive, oil and gas, renewable solar and windfarm, electronics and flexible cord applications. The company will introduce technical solutions for CV tube components, and heavy-duty cable jacketing and submarine cable equipment will be exhibited. Machinery will be on full display, including the Trendseal variable cable seal for continuous vulcanisation, advances in
