It can automatically accelerate the bobbin speed from 175 rpm to a maximum value of 200 rpm, allowing the braiding performance to be increased by 10 per cent. At the same time, the frequency of the lubrication intervals is reduced, depending on the slideway temperature, so less lubricant is used and less oil contamination occurs on the braids. Niehoff’s WTC (wire tension control) system ensures that all braiding wires are applied to the product to be braided under uniform tension, from the full to the empty bobbin. As a result, the braiding machine produces consistent shielding. The braider also keeps the braiding coverage ratio of the product to be braided constant at the pre-set value. Insulated wires up to an outer diameter of 7.5mm can be stranded. The maximum production speed is 300m/min, and the maximum number of twists is 5,000 tpm. The D 802 features an energy-saving sin gle-bow design (Eco-Bow) and is equipped with a rotor drive of energy class IE3 and an adjustable fan drive in the sound- proof cabin. Other features include wire less telemetry for all signals, including encoders, and an automatic traverse equipped with a flange detection system. PWM’s range of cold welding machines, including its best-selling EP500, will be presented by Joe Snee Associates, exclusive distributor for PWM in the USA and Canada.

PWM’s energy-efficient EP500 rod welder

The company reports that sales of the EP500 more than doubled last year. The energy-efficient machine is pneumatically powered and can be connected to a central air supply or dedicated compressor. Electrical power (a single-phase supply between 100 and 240V) is only required for the PLC control system. The user-friendly EP500 provides a safe, clean and quiet method of welding rod from 5 to 15mm. PWM’s portable air/hydraulic HP100 cold welder and the manually operated M101 will also be on show. The M101, a heavy duty machine for wire from 1 to 5mm, can also be used to weld strip for armouring lines. PWM’s small manual machines for fine/ medium wire from 0.1 to 1.8mm include the handheld M10 and M25, and the BM10 and BM30 models for use on a work- bench or with a cart. The company’s welders and dies (standard or custom made) for wire, strip and profile are designed and made in-house. Multiple monitoring systems enable unattended operation over longer periods of time and without frequent operator intervention. The machine and process data can be monitored online using the myNiehoff app. The BMV 16 is designed for processing bare or plated round or flat wires made of copper, aluminium or stainless steel, with single wire diameters from 0.02 to 0.56mm (for Cu soft) as well as artificial yarn and fibres.
