One feature of the MSM 83 is that the drawing capstans are placed on two levels. As a consequence, the MSM 83 has a space-saving length of only 4.5m. Individually driven and electronically controlled capstans allow operation with minimised slip. This concept, together with the optimised wire path and the pressure lubrication and cooling of the drawing die holders, results in high quality wire surfaces. The machine is easy and intuitive to operate by means of the NMI (Niehoff Machine Interface) touch-screen display with colour user interface and simplified navigation structure. The

MASCHINENFABRIK Niehoff, rep- resented in North America by its subsidiary Niehoff Endex North America Inc (NENA), has more than 60 years’ experience in the design and operation of rod breakdown and other wire drawing machines for non-ferrous metal wires. The most recent innnovation in this field is the MSM 83 model with individually driven capstans. The MSM 83 is able to draw copper rod wire to a finished diameter range of 1.38mm (0.054") to 4.56mm (0.179") if equipped with 11 drafts. The machine is built in 11, 13 or 15 draft versions and can operate at speeds of up to 38m/s (7,480 fpm).

parameters, maintenance instructions and offers diagnostic functions in the operator's language. Data can be recorded and archived, and recipe data management completes the range of functions. Via a USB stick or memory card data can be imported, exported or recorded and messages can be archived. The machine’s sensor technology makes it possible to use machine, production and process data according to Industry 4.0. Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & Co KG – Germany Website : www.niehoff.de gives
