Fiberising Indian telco networks for 5G As India awaits 5G buildouts, fiberisation in the country will increase by approximately three times, to 60mn fkm annually.

• Celesta intelligently bonded ribbon cables that reduce installation time • STL’s Opto-Bolt and Opto-Blaze optical devices – pre connectorised plug-and-play solutions that result in faster execution and de-skilling of field installations • Automation-led fibre deployment – a technology-led approach offering backhaul fiberisation using robotics and AI-driven field management systems At the launch of 5G Cosmos at IMC 2022 (India Mobile Congress), Pankaj Miglani, director supply chain management at Bharti Airtel, said, “We are readying our infrastructure for 5G and fiberisation is a core need. We are happy to see the use cases that 5G Cosmos can solve for telcos and enable us to deliver a great 5G experience to our customers.” STL managing director Ankit Agarwal commented, “Indian telecom operators are ready to install fibre-dense networks for 5G. This will need an integrated and futuristic solution. We have built 5G Cosmos to enable fiberisation of macro and small cells at scale and achieve the full potential of 5G.” STL www.stl.tech Partnership to boost EV charging and swapping infrastructure In a development that is expected to boost electric vehicle (EV) adoption and mobility in India, Hero Electric is to partner with Jio-bp to strengthen mobility solutions for electric two wheelers. Under the proposed partnership, customers of Hero Electric are expected to gain access to the widespread charging and swapping network of Jio-bp, which is also open to other vehicles. In addition to creating solutions for seamless customer journeys, both companies will bring their knowledge of electrification and apply it to the Indian market. Jio-bp operates EV charging and swapping stations under the brand Jio-bp pulse. Customers can use a dedicated app to find nearby stations to charge their electric vehicles. With a vision of being among India’s largest EV networks, Jio-bp is creating an electric mobility ecosystem that will benefit all of the stakeholders in the EV value chain. Hero delivers electric mobility solutions to its consumers, and the new association with Jio-bp will accelerate EV growth in the country while strengthening Hero Electric’s vision to transform the e-mobility sector in India. Tower and small cell fiberisation will be major drivers. Tower fiberisation will need to increase from around 35 per cent to 80 per cent to provide high quality 5G services. Additionally, 5G will require up to four times the number of small cells, backhauled with fibre. STL (Sterlite Technologies Ltd), an integrator of digital networks, has introduced an optical solution for towers and small cells, to accelerate the 5G rollout. Despite the intent and capital availability, India’s fibre space is constrained by deployment speed and scale. STL’s patented 5GCosmos solution aims to solve these challenges and connect every tower, small cell and node. • A 5G optical network topology design that will deliver a competent networkwith enhanced scalability and bandwidth with reduced latency • Stellar TM Fibre – a bend-insensitive fibre, suitable for congested 5G topology, that minimises data loss and ensures speed through seamless splicing The components of STL include:
