New engineering YouTube series Würth Industry North America (WINA), an industrial distributor of supply chain solutions for fasteners, MRO and safety equipment, has launched a new YouTube engineering series calledWürth Knowing. Würth plans to expand beyond fasteners to cover a wide range of industry- related topics promoting education and innovation in the industry.

concepts, discussion, demonstrations and testing help viewers learn and understand the science behind fastening. The show is hosted by WINA technical instructor Randy Lammers and appli- cations engineer Aaron Keevan, in Mr Lammers’s east Texas workshop. “We are beyond thrilled to bring this new educational avenue to our industry,” said Dan Hill, chief executive officer for Würth Industry North America. “Our engineering department has decades of knowledge and are best-in-class at supporting our customers in every aspect of their manufacturing process.” Becky McMorrow, vice president of marketing and business transformation, said, “It is exciting to be the first in our industry to offer fun, educational fastener training via YouTube. The concept of the series was inspired by an old show we all used to enjoy – Home Improvement – or, really, the show on the show, ‘Tool Time’. We filmed the show at Randy’s home workshop, and it stars two of our fantastic engineers, Randy and Aaron, who bring a new level of energy and fun into learning about fastener engineering.” Würth Industry North America www.wurthindustry.com

Larger diameters added to licensed fastener production

Optimas Solutions has added larger diameter (M12-M18) fastener production of the industry standard Mathread® and Taptite 2000® licensed products. The larger M12-M18 Mathread and Taptite 2000 diameters enhance Optimas’s licensed products manufacturing capabilities, which already include smaller diameters of Mathread, Mortorq®, Phillips Square- Driv®, Remform® and Taptite 2000 brands. The enhanced, larger diameter capabilities complement the existing smaller diameter offerings, and support Optimas’s aim to deliver manufacturing solutions directly to distributors and OEMs. “We’ve been manufacturing licensed fasteners for smaller diameters for a number of years,” said Marc Strandquist, CEO of Optimas. “Now with technological

upgrades made at our Wood Dale, Illinois, and Droitwich, UK, manufacturing facilities, we can produce larger dia- meters of licensed products to make us more competitive in a variety of industries that require larger fasteners, such as automotive, heavy duty trucks, construction machinery and agricultural equipment.” By adding the larger diameter capabilities, Optimas can build on partnerships with OEM brands wanting to onshore more manufacturing, with licences especially beneficial to industrial applications. These licenses allow Optimas to supply customers with next-generation fastening solutions, with claimed advantages that include improved performance, reduced installation times and weight savings.

Optimas offers cold-forming manu- facturing for a variety of fasteners at its facilities in Wood Dale, Illinois, USA, and Droitwich, UK, including self-threading designs for metals and a roll-forming design for plastics. our manufacturing capabilities by working with high-quality, well-respected fastener licensers, such as Mathread, Phillips and Taptite,” said Mr Strandquist. “As we continue to roll out our Manufacturing Solutions strategy that we announced in the third-quarter of 2020, it was a natural progression to add larger diameter licensed product capabilities for existing and new customer applications.” “We continue to improve
