Increasing worldwide demand Electric infrastructure, from cars to power transmission and the distribution industry, has been highlighted as a major factor in the increasing demand of the worldwide wire and cable industry. UK-based lubricant manufacturer Metalube is expecting demand to continue over the next few years with increasing urbanisation and fast infrastructure expansion also contributing to the growth. The Wire Association International has announced keynote speakers for its eagerly anticipated Interwire 2023, being staged in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, from 9 to 11 May. Srinivas Siripurapu, chief innovation and R&D officer of Prysmian Group, will present his speech “Innovation, investments and incentives – electrifying the wire and cable industry for a brighter future”, while Rich Stinson, president and CEO of Southwire Company, will address the audience with “The future is electrified”. Held biennially, Interwire attracts visitors from more than 50 countries for its exhibition, conference and keynote presentations. More details on page 14. The Wire Association (WAI) has also announced that Kurt F Breischaft will serve as the 70 th president of the association. Mr Breischaft, president of SDI LaFarga Copperworks, a copper rod and wire mill in New Haven, Indiana, USA, will chair the board of directors of the 93-year-old association for a one-year term, which began on 1 January.
