India’s Polycab has implemented
CableBuilder from InnoVites in its
operations. Polycab uses the program to
streamline its engineering and product
designing processes. CableBuilder allows
Polycab to create designs and eliminate
human errors.
CableBuilder
software
has
been
developed to create, calculate and
maintain cable designs for all kinds of
cables. This solution is said to help cable
manufacturing companies to reduce
design and maintenance time, quotation
lead times, produce professional looking
datasheets and catalogues, improve
manufacturing instructions and reduce
rework and scrap. CableBuilder comes
with an integration module to integrate
with ERP systems and synchronize the
bill-of-material, the routings and the cable
dimensions between systems.

Alcatel-Lucent has announced its decision
not to sell the undersea cables unit. The
business will now be taken over by Nokia on
its acquisition of the group.
Nokia first revealed the planned $17 billion
acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent in April as
it aims to better compete with Ericsson
and Huawei. Alcatel had previously
said it planned to sell a majority stake in
Alcatel-Lucent submarine networks (ASN) or
list the business separately, but has chosen
to retain it.
The ASN division, which has facilities in
France and England, will become part of
the new Nokia group once the acquisition
is complete.
ASN has over 575,000km of fiber optic cable
systems deployed worldwide, with the
maintenance of 330,000km of undersea
systems.
