Record-breaking wire China 2014

THE largest wire, cable and tube exhibition in Asia closed its doors in September, following a record-breaking four days which saw the exhibition record more than 1,400 exhibitors at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Covering 90,000m 2 , exhibitors from 34 countries were joined by more than 38,000 visitors from as far afield as Argentina, Thailand, Vietnam, India, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and mainland China. Argentina organised a buyer group to visit wire and Tube China for the very first time. During the exhibition, both exhibitors and visitors were greatly satisfied with the exhibition. “The continual economic growth of China with immense infrastructure and energy projects has led to a boost in the already huge market demand for all kinds of wires, cable and pipes. In only ten years, wire China and Tube China have become Asia’s number one networking platform for industry and buyers,” said Werner Dornscheidt, president and CEO of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH. “As a dynamic platform of technology communication and information, as well as a trade collaborative platform to encourage the sharing of new technology, products and thoughts, wire China gathers in one place the global technology development trend in the industry and will definitely help with the transformation upgrade and innovative development of China’s wire industry,” added Wei Dong, director-general of Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute, vice president of China Electrical Equipment Industry Association (CEEIA) and chairman of Electrical Cable & Wire Branch of CEEIA. “After ten years’ efforts, we created a world-known international tube and pipe communication platform which we believe will bring new benefits for exhibitors and visitors both in China and abroad and create new values continuously, along with the transition of Chinese economy,” said Yang Zunqing, deputy secretary general of CISA, chairman of MC-CCPIT and director of

A total of 982 exhibitors from 34 countries and regions attended wire China 2014, and the exhibition area for cable and wire products reached 57,500m 2 with an increase of 10.6 per cent from the previous exhibition in 2012. The exhibitors from China and overseas actively took part in wire China and their increasing booth area showcases the potential economic development dynamic of China and Asia. Steve Rika, chairman of the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA), was confident to increase the amount of members to attend the next show. “There seems to be more attendance and new professional visitors. Lots of our exhibitors showed their equipment on

site which attracted many visitors to negotiate business in their booths during the show. We will let our members know the success of wire China and believe more of them will come to attend next time.” “We’ve been coming here since the beginning; the Chinese market is very important to us. The advertising and marketing of this event is very well done, and many visitors come to see us.
