TENOVA, a Techint Group company specialising in solutions for the metals and mining industries, has been awarded a contract for the supply of a Consteel ® EAF (electric arc furnace) for Nippon Steel Corporation. The new Consteel EAF will be the first for the Nippon Steel Group in Japan, and will be installed at its Hirohata works. Production is targeted to start in the first half of the 2022 financial year. “With this new installation, Hirohata plant will save about 400,000 tons per year of CO 2 emissions,” said Mario Marcozzi, Tenova sales director for electric arc and ladle furnaces. “Moreover, this project consolidates Tenova’s presence in the important Asian market.”
