Joint hydrogen project on an industrial scale Green hydrogen is key to decarbonising industrial products and processes, particularly in areas that are difficult or impossible to electrify. Polyolefin solutions provider Borealis and Austrian energy company Verbund have initiated a decarbonisation project that will use green hydrogen to produce fertilisers, melamine and technical nitrogen on an industrial scale, in a more sustainable way. decarbonisation of industrial processes and the achievement of climate targets.” Borealis, commented, “We are pleased to continue the successful cooperation with Verbund in Linz in order to jointly develop solutions for the energy transition. For Borealis, green hydrogen is an alternative to natural gas in ammonia production, and using it will lead to a reduction in CO 2 emissions. This joint effort is another example of how we are reinventing essentials for sustainable living.” With its approval of IPCEI projects in mid-September, including the green hydrogen project between Borealis and Verbund, the European Commission has given the green light for a series of hydrogen projects in Europe. Rosendahl Nextrom GmbH With environmental regulations set to in crease in the future, production compa nies will need to document their process es and carbon emissions accurately and present this information when required. Determining the exact CO 2 consumption of a production line can be simplified using Rosendahl’s latest smart solution. The recently introduced ESG module (environment social governance) is the latest add-on for the Rio line control. It combines precise calculations and in-line The joint project, taking place within the framework of the pan-European IPCEI (Important Projects of Common Euro pean Interest) process, entails the pro duction of green hydrogen at a 60 MW industrial electrolysis plant using electric ity from renewable sources and deionised water. The green hydrogen will be used to produce fertilisers, melamine and technical nitrogen at Borealis operations in Linz, Austria. The oxygen generated by water splitting in the course of the electrolysis process will be used directly

measuring devices to continuously log the consumption data of electrical power, water, compressed air and all raw materials consumed during production, and converts this data into kilograms of CO 2 . Customers will have access to accurate figures depicting their carbon emissions in real-time, and will know how much CO 2 their production runs emit. Ready-to-use reports show the carbon emissions of a whole line set-up, or of single machines or in production. The electrolyser will also provide grid services for the transmission network. The electrolysis plant is scheduled to commence operation in 2025, withprojected annual CO 2 emissions reductions of up to 90,000 tons. “Green hydrogen is a crucial lever in driving the energy transition,” said Verbund CEO Michael Strugl. “One of our strategic goals is to establish Verbund as a key hydrogen player. As a partner to industry, we are implementing joint projects that contribute to the C 131

At the completion of the program, the sensors make the drill head rise and the next die can be worked immediately with the same or a modified program. The machine operates at very high speed and can recondition dies in a short time, with accurate and precise angles on re-cut dies. A mirror polish can be achieved using Ajex diamond powder and steel pins with compressed air pressure. Needle changes are simple, and up to 20 dies can be worked with a single needle. The 150V ultrasonic generator operates at a very high speed. The machine is suitable for die hole sizes from 0.1 to 4mm. It is 220/240V and air cooled, with a European design, developed in India. and performs grinding and polishing of angles and bearing in one operation, saving time and energy. In automatic operation the machine will repeat a drill and machining sequence as many times as required. The operator can pre-set parameters for the drill angle to be ground; the duration of the ultrasonic machining; and the number of working cycles.
