Pakistan Cables Ltd, represented by chief executive officer Fahd K Chinoy, and the NED University (Karachi, Pakistan), represented by registrar Ghazanfar Hussain, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for establishing the Cooperative Education Program in Karachi, which provides female students with industrial experience alongside their academic development. The focus of the partnership will be on female students enrolled in the Department of Electrical Engineering. Selected students enrolled in the Cooperative Education Program will also be offered full academic scholarship alongside internship opportunities at Pakistan Cables Ltd. “The MoU reaffirms our long-standing philosophy of leading the way for engineering development in Pakistan,” said Mr Chinoy. “It also underscores our commitment towards diversity and providing opportunities for the youth. I am extremely proud that we have partnered with an esteemed institution that has a proven 100-year legacy of leading learning in Pakistan.” The MoU will enable each of the organisations to support high-quality learning and contribute towards students’ development, while giving students an opportunity to contribute towards the company. Dr Sarosh Lodhi, vice chancellor of NED University, commented, “Pakistan Cables Ltd is a renowned name in Tenova receives order for new walking beam furnace for JUSL Tenova Italimpianti has received a contract for a new 340t/h walking beam furnace (WBF) for Jindal United Steel Limited (JUSL), a company specialised in hot rolling and cold rolling of a wide set of stainless steels. The furnace has been designed to charge the stainless steel product (grade series 200, 300 and 400) as well as the carbon and low carbon steel, austenitic and ferrite families, in order to comply with JUSL’s various production needs. The furnace is claimed to achieve optimum thermal quality of products, with maximum efficiency, high performance in all running conditions and ease of maintenance. It can be fired with several gases, allowing the furnace to be ready for future feeding. The installed combustion system is designed to optimise performance (flame characteristics, efficiency and pollutant emissions) in the function of the fuel and burner location (frontal, lateral or radiant application). The multi-level automation control system optimises heating practices, regulating fuel consumption and scale production.
