Offering the latest servo-controlled technology, the high-speed compact double concentric head taping machine will be used to maximise productivity by applying mica, Nomex and PET to conductors. The complete scope of the line includes payoff and take-up drum stands; a straightening unit to ensure conductors are straight prior to the application of tapes; an HTM-CDC

taping machine to accurately apply a variety of tape materials to cables and flat conductors; and a caterpillar to pull wires through the taping machine at a controlled speed without damaging the coverings. All parts of the line are controlled via an HMI control console.

Due to increased demand, Ridgway Machines is to supply a new cable and conductor taping machine to one of Canada’s leading commutator and coil manufacturers.

Dies can be made for round wire or profile, including trapezoidal and Z wire profiles used in the build-up of sub-sea cables.

The company can also produce dies to weld two different sizes of material, enabling manufacturers to join different wire sizes together quickly when changing spools.
