Retirement of industry veteran Spirka-Schnellflechter GmbH has announced the retirement of general manager Harald Baumbach, after 42 years in the wire and cable industry. Mr Baumbach, a lifelong resident of Berlin, Germany, completed an economics degree at the Berlin- Karlshorst University of Applied Sciences in 1975. Following a compulsory stint in the former East German military, Mr Baumbach held a variety of technical sales positions with SKET GmbH, before joining Spirka as sales manager in 2001. He retained that position in addition to general managerial duties. Mr Baumbach guided Spirka through a long and challenging transition period that included the sale of the company, followed by receivership and, eventually, its acquisition by the Wilms Group. Throughout, Mr Baumbach remained committed to the company,

Having been in the wire industry for more than 100 years, Lämneå Bruk has specialised knowledge as well as innovative solutions for the changing demands of its international customer base. This year, everything is slightly different in the world, and also at wire Düsseldorf – including Lämneå Bruk’s location at the show, with the company moving from its usual spot in hall 9A to hall 13. Lämneå Bruk will showcase some of its bestselling machines: several blocks of its drawing machine; a pointing machine for smooth and cleanly pointed wire; and a newly designed sandpaper descaling machine. The sandpaper descaling machine is equipped with the latest rod- preparation technology and is fitted with up to two easy-to-change double-head sanding belts for optimum cleaning results.

Customers can choose either one or two easy-access flyers, depending on the individual operation requirements. The self-levelling wire running position and steplessly adjustable flyer and grinding belt speeds add to the user-friendliness and convenience of use.
