❍ The AF80 from Frigeco

Frigeco’s new annealer

MFL Group continues to improve its wire drawing lines through one of its well-established brands, Frigeco. The company recently developed and successfully delivered a twin-wire rod breakdown machine (TS6045-9-2) in line with a 12,000 amp annealer (AF80-12000-2) and a 630mm double automatic spooler (BDA630). What made this system unique was the development of the AF80-12000-2 annealer. The AF-Series heats by means of the Joule effect. Heating occurs in two phases: pre-heating and heating. At the end of the annealing process, the wire is cooled with coolant and is then dried with compressed air before it reaches the coiler or spooler.

The annealer shafts have been specially designed to minimise maintenance and to optimise accessibility. There are four annealer motor driven shafts, three of which are electrified. This 12,000 amp, twin-wire annealer is capable of handling 2 x 1.8-4.5mm from 8mm input to the rod breakdown and 1 x 4.5-6.2mm from 8mm or 12mm rod input. In addition, it can process trapezoidal conductors up to 35mm 2 from 8 or 12mm rod input and flat wire 7mm x 2.5mm to 9mm x 3mm from 12.9mm rod input. The Frigeco AF80 also includes a wire accumulator, a system that is useful during machine stoppage to perform

zero speed annealing for big wire size and shaped wire. Due to its size, the annealer includes an elevator to help the operator during threading operations. In today’s highly competitive market, customers are seeking increased production efficiency which translates into higher profitability for their products.
