09 A50 Inductotherm Heating & Welding will be highlighting its Radyne Spring Wire Line system at wire 2022. With a number of successful installations in wire producing companies, the system is distinctive in its use of a water quenching system rather than the more traditional oil method. The system provides environmental benefits and improved process control, as well as preventing dimensional distortions. With environmental issues becoming more of a consideration for the wire industry, the induction system offers the environmental benefits of not only being more efficient to run, but also using liquids likemolten lead to temper the wire – there are no additional disposal costs. By using plain tap water for the quench, the impact on the wider environment is reduced. Inductotherm states that the bespoke system can future-proof businesses to allow for the cost of future carbon-footprint and related taxes.

06 A02 MASSdiscover is a new device that can be used to measure mass flow in real time and, by calculation, the equivalent section or diameter. Using a technology that allows measurements with high precision to make decisions about process control, it has been tested in several rolling mills with harsh conditions. Mass flow measurement is necessary to control production parameters and avoid accidents. To date, expensive systems have been used for production optimisa tion, usually based on laser measurement, vision or other image analysis systems, including electromagnetic technology. These gauges have limitations, as they are designed to control only one point in the production process. ISEND has found a reliable, modular solution to meet the needs of each production line. MASSdiscover is basedon the well-known eddy current technology for long product rolling, giving an electromagnetic signal depending on the fill factor produced in the probe. MASSdiscover can help companies to adjust tolerances in product consistency. Users could, for example, achieve a mini tolerance for longer product for reinforced steel, or achieve a mini variation on tolerances to ensure high performance post-treatment for fine drawing, cold heading, final product tensile consistency. When the size and speed of material do not match the parameters of the rollers, accidents can occur. ISEND’s new system not only helps to adjust the tolerances but also helps to ensure a good configuration of the production processes: tension adjustments between stands; size variation/wearing of roller grooves; and electric power consumption on each stand or group of stands.

Radyne’s Spring Wire Line

The Radyne Spring Wire Line (SWL) solution produces spring wire with an increased fatigue rate, which extends the life expectancy of the product when compared to traditional methods. It hardens and tempers high carbon spring steels, achieving a tensile strength of 2,000MPa, with a throughput of up to 1.5, 2 or 3 tons per hour. Visitors to the Inductotherm stand will be able to watch a 3D animation of the system and to talk through how it can benefit their business. KHU’s ULTS-HS ultra-low-tension high-speed crossbinder

The company will present its latest development, the new ULTS-HS ultra low-tension high-speed crossbinder. Its technical highlights include a speed of 5,000 rpm; tension regulated from 40 to 50cN; and reserve cops. It is suitable for yarn and flat products. Also on display will be KHU’s best seller, the SZ40 SZ strandingmachine. It features 2,500 rpm speed; 3,000 rpm over-speed before reversal; and a reversal time of 20 milliseconds.
