traditional borax-containing products. With high to low fat content, and high to low softening points, there are borax free lubricants suitable for all types of application. Condat SA www.condat-lubricants.com Continuus-Properzi SpA 11 G40 Continuus-Properzi has pioneered the process of continuously casting and rolling non-ferrous rod since the 1940s, and today offers complete lines of non ferrous wire rod production equipment, including furnaces, casting equipment, rolling equipment and double spoolers.

result in savings of more than 280kg of CO 2 per ton of ingots produced. This result has been validated by the BSI Group 8 (British Standards Institution) through an in-depth study. Other Properzi technology includes the Self-Annealing Microrolling® (SAM) machine, which provides energy savings while processing 8mm copper rod down to 1.8-2mm soft wire without an annealer, as well as the Pro-Form continuous rotary extrusion machinery for a wide range of applications for both aluminium and copper. on-site technical assistance, remote technical consultancy and the supply of spare parts. Properzi is able to supply its equipment on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, so the buyer is only minimally involved with the installation of the plant. Continuus-Properzi SpA www.properzi.com 09 A22 In the context of the climate emergency, new corporate sustainability strategies and changes in consumer behaviour, cable extrusion has become a key factor for the advancement of renewable energies such as wind and photovoltaics, as well as for the deployment of low voltage cabling or fibre optics. and flexibility are needed to respond to the requirements. The drive to replace and modernise structures wherever possible is leading to a situation in which cabling must have a number of advantages. Whether it is cables used for solar, wind or hydro power supply, or for longer transmission lengths, lighting, robotics and transport infrastructure, these are relevant for any manufacturer. Delta Tecnic, a masterbatch producer, is emphasising its commitment to technological and energy advancement, offering companies a broad portfolio of colour concentrates and additives designed to work in high-rigour compounding formulations, from PVC for THHN/THHW/THW in RAL and Munsell colourings, HFFR in EVA/PE, or PE for crosslinking. They are also formulated in masterbatch with UV, AO and repellent additives. colour concentrates in standard pellet sizes as well as micropellets. the regulation on Borax Classification, Labelling and Packaging will change from 17 December 2022. Products containing ≥0.3 per cent borax and/or boric acid will be classified as Reprotoxic Category 1B in the European Union. As a result, the hazard statement “H360FD: May damage fertility. May damage the unborn child” will be added to the safety data sheet and the label of these products, accompanied by the “exploding chest” hazard pictogram. In many EU countries the law will therefore require: substitution of products classified as Reprotoxic Cat 1B with non-CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic, reprotoxic) products; the confinement of installations using reprotoxic products; or the health, safety and environment department of the concerned sites having to put in place collective/individual protective equipment suitable for the handling of CMR products. Other EU countries will have an incentive to substitute products classified as Reprotoxic Cat 1B without binding measures or equivalent law, but in all EU countries the disposal cost of used borax containing soaps is likely to increase following their classification as reprotoxic. The REACH authorisation procedure is still pending but, if confirmed, all users of products containing borax or boric acid will be obliged to substitute these products or face very restrictive use measures that will involve factory investments to control the risks as well as a fee of a few tens of thousands of euros. All countries within the EU will be affected.

Continuus-Properzi technology includes refining furnaces

Starting with the processing of semi precious metals such as copper and aluminium to obtain wire rod, the company has developed, focusing on the exploitation of scrap and alloys as well as on other metals such as lead and zinc. The copper rod that can be produced using Properzi technologies starts either from cathodes or from100 per cent low-quality copper scrap – particularly relevant with regard to sustainability and recycling. The furnaces and combustion division designs and manufactures furnaces for aluminium and copper plants. The company has long experience in metal refining technology and is available for the study and construction of furnaces upon customers’ requests. At wire 2022, Continuus-Properzi will highlight the CO 2 savings obtained through the use of vert-ref furnaces (refining furnaces to recycle scrap) and the technology linked to the production of aluminium ingots. All systems are designed, engineered and produced by Properzi for installation around the world. Through the ingot casting method (track and belt), “Properzi” ingots are produced in both aluminium and copper. With this technology Properzi has managed to obtain ingots with significantly reduced CO 2 emissions. The company claims that using its ingot casting technology can

Condat produces a range of borax-free lubricants

Condat prioritises the monitoring of substances used and the improvement of the formulation of these products. The company has expanded its range of borax-free wire drawing lubricants over the years to meet the most demanding applications. Its borax-free surface coatings offer a higher roughness and deposit weight, plus increased resistance to humidity pick-up compared to traditional borax baths. dry drawing lubricants in some cases even demonstrate increased performance over The company’s borax-free
