Cimteq states that smart factory process es that can be achieved by integrating software programs such as CableBuilder Enterprise, CableMES and ERP integra tion services can improve manufacturing operations by bringing benefits to shop floor processes while positively impact ing all elements of a business. The full suiteof Cimteq softwareprograms can be of use to manufacturers of all sizes and from all regions. Customers range from single-factory manufacturing plants to multi-plant, global businesses. Operating worldwide with customers in more than 44 countries, Cimteq has ex perience in the wire and cable industry spanning many industry sectors with highly specified requirements. These sec tors include energy cables, communica tion cables, industrial cables, fibre optic cables, and offshore and subsea cables. Cimteq can undertake projects of all sizes, from helping manufacturers take the first steps towards smart factory status, to large-scale transformational projects that see multiple programs integrating to create a fully synced operation. All of the software can be implemented alongside existing assets. Cimteq Ltd www.cimteq.com Condat SA 10 A56 Lubricant producer Condat is taking a lead in alerting the wire drawing industry about regulation changes occurring in the European Union regarding borax. The company sees wire 2022 in Düsseldorf as a good place to provide information and to explain what is behind the shift, as it may impact investments and safety procedures. Borax has traditionally been used in two types of wire drawing products – surface coatings and dry drawing lubricants – but the substance has been controversial in the wire drawing industry for more than 15 years. Often employed in wire prepa- ration after acid picking and phosphat- ing, borax coating is used to improve the pick-up of the dry drawing lubricant and to neutralise any acid residues on thewire. It is sometimes incorporated as a high performance additive in dry drawing lubricants. However, due to its chemical composition, it has been identified several times by the European Union for the potential reprotoxic danger it represents. Further to the Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/849 published in the Official Journal of the European Union in May 2021,

In addition to complete lines, Cerrini delivers single extrusion line components – payoffs, take-ups, extruders, haul-off units, accumulators and cooling troughs – tailored to customer requirements. All of the equipment can be integrated into existing extrusion lines. Cerrini also provides a complete re engineering service, to increase perfor mance of existing extrusion lines and machines. Cersa’s SQM for measurement of surface quality

In the mid-1980s, Cersa launched its first device for fine wire measurement. The LDS is still available, in one- or two axis models, for diameter monitoring during the drawing process or for off-line measurements, fitted with accessories. The wire range covered is 5µm to 2mm. For extrusion processes, Cersa provides the LPS-3-H to monitor diameter and detect lumps and neckdowns in a single product for larger wire and cable diameters (0.3 to 5mm). This solution combines a diameter gauge and a flaw detector in one box. For optical fibre measuring, Cersa offers a complete solution to ensure high quality certification during the drawing process. In 2021, Cersa released its new solution for wire/cable/surface defect detection. The SQM is capable of detecting defects that may appear on the surface during drawing or extrusion processes. The instrument offers high-resolution and real-time detection of surface defects such as scratches, die marks, impurities, bubbles or particles on the insulation, and works with round products (20 to 2,000µm) and metallic surfaces. SQM will be highlighted and demon- strated on Cersa’s stand at wire 2022. Cersa-MCI www.cersa-mci.com Cimteq Ltd 11 D15 Cimteq will showcase its suite of fully integrated wire and cable manufacturing solutions. Automation practices and establishing a synced and integrated system are important for a wire and cable manufacturer looking to future proof its business and maximise the efficiency of manufacturing and business processes. Reducing the downtime of machines, reducing scrap and waste and identifying errors and bottlenecks early on can all be achieved through automation and “smartification”.
