Reyshield line of cable tapes and wraps

LLFLEX, which provides packaging material and industrial laminate solutions for the building and construction, wire and cable and tobacco packaging industries, has manufactured a complete line of cable wrap tapes to address a number of industry needs. The Reyshield™ products consist of mono and co-ex layered film formulations that ensure quality and durability. LLFlex has leveraged its worldwide supply chain in the wire and cable industry with an international network of sales agents and slitting partners and its domestic manufacturing capabilities. The Reyshield series supports LLFlex’s reputation as a dedicated industry supplier. The Reyshield line of cable wrap tapes comprises three products: The Reyshield aluminium cable wrap contains film on the aluminium that allows for improved bending performance and uniform bonding to the jacket. Additionally, this product acts as a moisture vapour barrier, as well as a static screen for copper conductor telephone and fibre optic cables. The cable wrap is offered either bare or coated with ethylene acrylic acid copolymer film (EAA) on one or both sides. Used alone or as a second shield over aluminium cable wrap, the Reyshield steel armour cable wrap provides dual protection for optical fibre cables. The product is equipped with an EAA copolymer that bonds to the Wire rod is propelled by a horizontal wire rod pay-off system in a combined pull-in, bending and straightening machine (BDM-2S/EG) from WiTechs. The scale layer is broken and the wire is straightened without cracks. The wire pull in is facilitated by this concept. Using the double-head sanding descaler (SEZ-6-302S), the wire will be cleaned and surface pre-treated for the further coating process through two sanding belts with a nearly 100 per cent clean result. The next wire preparation step is done by an in-line electro-phosphating plant (Ephos ® ) from Staku.

polyethylene jacket to reduce any damage from the installation process. The steel protects against moisture penetration and rodent damage. Reyshield coated steel shields sensitive optical fibres from the damaging effects of lightning’s electromagnetic force. The Reyshield copper cable wrap combines the strength of copper with the corrosion protection of an ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer film. The product is suitable for low, medium and high voltage power cables and meets the specifications required for various other energy cables. In addition, it is an effective Production range: • Wire inlet ø8-15mm • Wire outlet drawing speed up to 10m/s • Wire inlet speed up to 1.5m/s For example: • Wire inlet ø13mm • Finished wire ø5mm • Wire inlet speed 1.2m/s • Wire outlet drawing speed 8m/s Advantages of this electrolytic process compared to classical chemical phosphating are: • Bath temperature only 45°C instead of 80°C • Sludge-free process ❍ The Reyshield line of cable wrap tapes

barrier for fibre optic and submarine cable networks. “The Reyshield line of cable wrap tapes provide a multitude of solutions for the wire and cable industries,” said Victor Dixon, CEO of LLFlex. “These products were developed with our customers’ needs in mind, while upholding LLFlex’s consistent emphasis on quality and durability. Our US-based manufacturing facility gives us a distinct competitive advantage along with our international network of sales representatives.” LLFlex – USA Website : www.llflex.com • 40 per cent lower chemical requirements due to compact and fine crystalline layer • Three-second coating time compared to seven minutes for classic procedures • Elimination of highly toxic activation chemicals • High binding forces prevent shearing during forming • No waste of old acid; use of economy flushing technology reduces waste water by 40 per cent • 33 per cent less zinc by replacement with calcium
