Sikora launches optical offline inspection and analysis

PURITY Concept V (Visual) from Sikora is an offline system for optical inspection and analysis of transparent and coloured plastic pellets by means of an intelligent light table. The material to be tested moves automatically through the system and contamination such as black specks are visualised. The system is suitable for sample testing of produced material or for incoming goods inspection. Until now, sample testing of pellets has been carried out mainly by means of light tables. The material to be tested was optically illuminated on a table and manually inspected by the operator. This method is dependent on the examiner and provides a limited repeatability. Additional limitations are the size of the contamination seen by the human eye as well as the classification by size. Alternative optical offline inspection devices feed the test material into a hopper and through a channel into the inspection area. Thereby, images are recorded successively and contaminated material is removed. Due to the blending of the removed material, a clear allocation of the contamination to the graphic material as well as a follow-up inspection are impossible. Purity Concept V contains the advantages of a light table, complemented by automatic offline material control. The intelligent system moves the test material on a tray through the inspection area. Within seconds, the material is inspected

automatically by the colour camera and contaminated material is marked directly on the sample tray by a beamer. By analysing the recorded images, contamination on the surface of transparent and coloured material is detected automatically, visualised and evaluated. A clear allocation of the contamination and follow-up inspection are possible at any time. Thus, the system contributes to quality control and

process optimisation. Sikora AG – Germany Website : www.sikora.net

Eisele rotary connector for compressed air Eisele has developed a ball bearing rotary connector. This new addition to series 14 of the Eisele Basicline can rotate freely around its own axis. The new rotary connector offers a solution for conveying compressed air from a rigid component to a rotating component. The new rotary connector, which is designed for an operating pressure range of -0.9 to 16 bar, is suitable for all applications that are compatible with nickel-plated brass. The seals are made of NBR and FKM. The rotary connector is available in straight and angled versions for tube diameters of 8, 10 and 12mm. The screw-in end is equipped with G1/4 threads. This new push-in connector from series 14 of the Basicline is the first fully rotating connector in Eisele’s product range. The rotary movement is enabled by a hybrid stainless steel ball bearing with ceramic balls, which is approved for rotational speeds of up to 800 rpm.
