The measuring principle is based on the pulse reflectometry method, also known as TDR (time domain reflectometry). Previously, measurement engineers have had to generate an artificial breakdown signal when trying to find faults. This electric pulse spreads throughout the conductor as a travelling wave. When the wave encounters a material change, it is reflected back, and the location of the breakdown is calculated based on the time difference between the signal being sent and being received.

Inductotherm Heating & Welding Ltd Stand: 09 E54

Visitors to Inductotherm Heating & Welding’s stand will be able to view a full Radyne Spring Wire induction tempered line solution via a new 3D animation being launched at wire 2020. Radyne lines for the spring wire industry provide efficient, automated, environmentally friendly solutions that are fully bespoke. The Radyne Spring Wire solution produces high-strength spring wire with an increased fatigue rate, which extends the life expectancy of the product when compared to more traditional methods. It hardens and tempers high-carbon spring steels, achieving a tensile strength of 2,000 MPa, with a throughput capacity of up to 1.5, two or three tons an hour. The Radyne solution comes with a guarantee that covers dimensional distortions, surface finish, defects, ultimate tensile strength and ROA, giving customers peace of mind that their investment will deliver the required product to their specifications.

manufactured to European and US standards, Inosym can offer reels to meet the varying needs of modern manufacturing plants. Product examples include ABS plastic reels from 250 to 1,000mm, for insulating, group twinners, stranding, bunching and jacketing; MF (metal flange) pressed metal process reels in sizes from 100 to 1,250mm, made from high-quality steel plate and tube, for applications such as universal take-up and payoff reels, bunching, stranding, insulating and jacketing; and SM (semi machined) double-wall high-speed reels in sizes from 315 to 1,250mm, also made from high-quality steel plate and tube, for applications in drawing, bunching, stranding and insulating. Inosym’s FM (fully machined) steel high-speed reels are available in sizes ranging from 100 to 1,000mm, and applications include high-speed single-wire drawing, high-speed multi-wire drawing, bunching and enamelled wire coating. SD (steel drum reels) are large steel process and shipping drums in sizes from 800 to 4,500mm, for use in drum twisting, stranding, insulating and jacketing. Options include flat-sided flanges, corrugated flange and breakdown reels. With more than 40,000 square metres of production space, Inosym can provide rapid delivery of both large and small reel orders. ❍ The HiRes Locator system

The HiRES Locator can perform this procedure in real-time. For example, it has been used to identify faults in cable joints during factory and commissioning tests. The HiRES Probe remote measuring sensor is a new addition to the HiRES range. With its shielding properties, the design of the component ensures high-precision results, even in environments with strong electro- magnetic interference like high-voltage laboratories. Data is transferred optically to the evaluating unit, which boosts the measurement accuracy, as do the 250 MS/s sampling rate, 14 bit resolution and 100 MHz analogue bandwidth. The ability to use the HiRES Probe in battery mode enables autonomous operation without grid power and allows measurements on high voltage potential. Customised evaluation software facilitates test sequence automation, as well as offering fully automatic logging of measurement results. The compact HiRES Probe can be used in tight spaces (such as in the base frame of a measurement divider), offering users greater flexibility. Highvolt Prüftechnik Dresden GmbH www.highvolt.com
