Review Most wire exhibitors came from the major producer countries Italy, Germany, Turkey, UK, France, Spain, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland. From overseas many exhibitors from the USA, India, Taiwan, South Korea and China travelled to the exhibition halls on the Rhine. “wire and Tube in Düsseldorf once more proved this year that they are the most important events in the industry worldwide,” said Dr Ing Uwe-Peter Weigmann, member of the board and spokesperson at WAFIOS AG . “It never ceases to impress us how these events bring an expert audience and customers from all over the world to the Rhine. For WAFIOS we can report that we posted a multitude of interesting, concrete project talks and closed numerous deals. We look forward to being back in 2020.”      The visitors at wire 2018 and Tube 2018 were very international, boasting great professional expertise, while promising customer contacts and good post-fair business prospects determined the atmosphere at the stands.  Over 50 per cent of visitors of both trade fairs came with concrete investment intentions. 70 per cent of visitors were executives with high decision-making authority.   Trade visitors at wire 2018 were primarily interested in machines for processing and producing wire and cable, steel bars and strips, process engineering tools as well as machines, equipment, tools and auxiliaries. The forming technology and auxiliary materials segments were also in high demand. 20 per cent of the visitors polled stated they were interested in finished products.

The new service tool “SmartCall”, which offers quick support through video calls and simple operation, con- tributes to the further expansion of the company’s expertise in ​smart service. Dongguan Gemwell Electrical Machinery presented a range of machinery, including a single twist strander/cabler, especially designed for stranding multi flexible wire for LAN cable, data cable, instrument, control, and flexible cables etc. Also on display was an electric pitch double twist buncher, designed for bunching insulated wires. This machine ensures precise tension control, separated serve motor for bow rotating, capstan and takeup. Pitch change is done electrically via a PLC control system and touchscreen with easy operation and less maintenance. With a compact design and high rates of productivity, a triple twisting machine highlighted the high speed double insulated twisting process. The company also displayed its high speed horizontal mica taping machine for fire-resistant cable, and its dual automatic change take-up for continuous extrusion line. Demand for Alloy Wire International ’s services hit an all-time high, with more than 150 individual leads taken during the five days. AWI staff from different countries were inundated with existing and potential customers keen to explore how the company can deliver material in just three weeks as their own clients are looking to increase volumes and reduce lead times.

❍ ❍ A delighted Joachim Schäfer, managing director at Messe Düsseldorf GmbH A total of 70 per cent of trade fair guests came from abroad and one third of these from overseas. 55 per cent of trade fair visitors voiced their satisfaction at having found new suppliers.     “SMART with Rosendahl Nextrom. ” With this message, Rosendahl Nextrom presented its newly designed stand. The open and modern stand design, which optimally reflects the company’s philo- sophies, led to a record attendance and invited visitors to browse through the space. On approximately 400m² of space, the company advised and served its visitors. The Austrian magician Paul Sommersguter provided alternative entertainment for the visitors to the stand.
