Radox is a show stealer in Malaysia HUBER+Suhner, an international manufacturer of components and systems for optical and electrical connectivity, displayed its cabling solutions for offshore platform and floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSOU) environments at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Malaysia in March. The major focus of the company’s presence at the show was the Radox ® MFH cabling solutions. Meeting the demands of the most challenging environments, for example in drilling applications, Radox was designed and manufactured in-house and in accordance with international standards, and provides a number of thermal, mechanical and chemical benefits for the typically congested environment of oil mud, aggressive sea water and tough weather conditions. “Offshore connectivity is a big challenge for some of our customers, which is why this year we are putting our Radox MFH cable to the test. Visitors witnessed the difference between our technology and other market standard flame-retardant power and data cables,” said Frank Thorn, head of market unit industry. “We have been developing and testing this advanced technology for years now, which has enabled us to achieve notable improvements in the thermal, mechanical and chemical properties of the cables’ insulation material. "With this experience, continuous quality checks and extensive laboratory tests, we can guarantee to our customers that our products are of the utmost standard.” With the ability to withstand high temperatures without shrinking or melting and no drip-off, Radox provides an extended temperature range for both hot and cold affected applications, accelerated resistance against environmental factors such as oil, chemicals and UV radiation and is low-smoke, minimising the potential for hazardous fume inhalation. The technology also allows customers to maximise space and weight in limited applications: due to its lightweight and compact design, Radox saves up to 60 per cent on weight and up to 80 per cent of space. Also on display was a selection of the company’s products for communication in offshore, including the small, robust, high-performing Wi-Fi/WLAN antennas, various entry devices and surge protective devices that are compliant to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, and NEK 606 tested and DNV approved selected Radox fibre optic cables and connectors for applications such as monitoring, control and structured cabling. “OTC Asia provided the perfect space for us to showcase how our technology is a game changer in the energy and resource space,” added Mr Thorn.
