PMH GmbH, based in Königswinter, Germany, knows from many years of experience how important the production of high-quality filaments is for the 3D printing industry. For more than 30 years, the company has been developing customised extrusion lines, and equipping its lines with measuring and control technology from Sikora to ensure product quality. Particularly in the production of filaments for 3D printing in medical technology, quality assurance is increasingly the focus of manufacturers. manufacturer of extrusion and con- verting technologies, has become the first OEM in its field to achieve Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) certification. The certification demonstrates the company’s commitment to preventing plastic pellet (resin) loss and contributing to a cleaner environment, setting a new benchmark for environmental sustainability in the plastics industry. OCS is an international programme designed to help plastics industry companies implement good house- keeping and pellet containment practices. By achieving OCS certification, Davis-Standard joins a growing list of companies committed to reducing
material flow during printing.
This prevents feeding errors, clogging of the extruder and damage to the print head and nozzle. In addition to devices for diameter measurement, PMH’s extrusion lines use Laser Lump 2000 systems for quality control. The Laser Lump 2000 precisely measures the diameter using laser technology, and simultaneously detects lumps and neckdowns on the filament surface. plastic pollution in waterways and communities. “Our facilities in Fulton, New York, and Pawcatuck, Connecticut, are blessed with natural beauty and proximity to vital waterways and the ocean,” said Giovanni Spitale, CEO of Davis-Standard. “This underscores our responsibility to protect these resources and is why Operation Clean Sweep certification is so important to us.” Dan Guthrie, the company’s COO and president of film, sheet and core auxiliaries, commented, “Environmental stewardship is deeply ingrained in our company culture at Davis-Standard.
