Kocks honoured with design award Reducing and sizing blocks (RSB®) from Kocks have been awarded the internationally renowned iF Design Award. The award demonstrates the manufacturer’s commitment to innovation in the steel production sector. The redesigned appearance of the rolling mills was developed in collaboration with the team from Budde Industrie Design.
The clean lines are designed to emphasise the central factor of precision in the rolling mill environment. The fully automatic cover ensures safety under the demanding conditions in industrial environments, in the event of bars breaking out. The block’s overall appearance underscores the relevance of the three-roll block for the quality of the final product. The jury awarded the Kocks RSB® product range in the Industry Product category. From the beginning, the RSB was developed to achieve performance, and it has been optimised up to the current (fifth) generation. “The iF Design Award is also a valuable recognition of our pursuit of excellence in rolling mill technology,” said Günther Schnell, managing director sales and marketing at Kocks. The award-winning design extends across the entire RSB sizing family, so that the rolling blocks form a consistent visual unit that stands out in the mill line. Three RSBs in the award-winning design have already been put into operation by Chinese steel producers. Additional blocks in various configurations are under construction or in the planning stages, and will be put into operation in rolling mills worldwide in the near future.
